I love, love, love the Monarch Butterfly preservation park in Pismo Beach, California. When you visit the delicious smell of eucalyptus wafts through the air. Monarch Butterflies fly all around you and nest in the eucalyptus trees. You can also hear the waves of the sea because the beach is just a short walk from this protected habitat of the endangered Monarch Butterfly

You can bring a picnic basket as there are benches available. I have taken my children here so many times...it is a very special place! I love the vast rolling dunes and the perfect sand pipers. The dunes are their nesting ground, so I always try to tread carefully and leave no evidence of my visit behind. This is a great beach for flying a kite because there is usually enough wind for one
Please note: Docents of the park ask that you never disturb or touch the butterflies in any way. Also stay on the provided paths at all times. And always leave with what you came with, in other words bring an extra plastic bag for trash.
